AI assistants for HP Tuners

The AI that tunes your car — and explains how it runs.

Type “Stage 2 on 93 octane — keep it safe” and watch it happen. The Tune Assistant takes control of VCM Editor and builds your calibration cell by cell, explaining every move as it makes it. The LiveData Assistant reads your VCM Scanner logs and tells you — in plain English — what your car loved, what it fought, and what to change next. Two experts. One app. A tab apart.

It all happens on your Windows PC, beside the licensed HP Tuners software you already own — your tunes and logs never touch a cloud. No per-tune fees and no waiting on someone else's inbox: a personal plan covers your own car for unlimited tunes and revisions, and the Dealers plan opens it up to every car a shop rolls in. Your stock file is saved before a single value changes, and 1:1 onboarding walks you from first sentence to first flash.

Product 01 · VCM Editor

HPTuners Tune Assistant

Writes your tune. It takes direct control of VCM Editor and builds the calibration from a sentence you type — explaining every edit as it goes.

  • Natural-language tuning — plain English in, finished calibration out
  • Engine (ECU) and gearbox (TCM/TCU) tuning where the platform supports it — shift firmness, shift points, torque management
  • Drives your licensed VCM Editor live, cell by cell
  • Safety guardrails + automatic stock backup
  • Unlimited tunes & revisions for your car — no per-tune fees
Product 02 · VCM Scanner

HPTuners LiveData Assistant

Reads your car. It watches VCM Scanner live data and explains — in plain human language — how your car is running, and how to make it better.

  • Narrates your live data while you drive or log
  • Tells you if your car is running perfectly — or exactly why not
  • Concrete recommendations to improve your tune
  • Health reports you actually understand — no squiggly-line guesswork

Master Package Both assistants — one app, both tabs.

Check your car

Is your car supported?

Type your car or paste your VIN. EcuTunerx tells you in seconds what it can tune — the engine (ECU) and, where supported, the gearbox (TCM/TCU) — plus the gains to expect. Some cars are engine-only; many take both. No sign-up.

Coverage is broad and growing — new platforms are added continuously through the yearly updates. Don't see yours? It's confirmed free during onboarding.

Stock vs tuned

The same car. Unlocked.

Factories calibrate one file for every climate, every fuel grade and every warranty lawyer on Earth — then your gearbox is told to shift like a limousine. A proper calibration gives back what your hardware could do all along: the ECU tune wakes the engine, and where the platform supports it, the TCM/TCU tune teaches the gearbox to keep up.

Stockas delivered ECU tuneengine calibration + TCM/TCU tunegearbox calibration — where supported
Power & torque 10–20% left on the table by one-size-fits-all factory margins UnlockedSpark, boost and fuelling optimized for your fuel, hardware and climate DeliveredTorque limits raised in the gearbox too — so the tune isn't choked mid-shift
Throttle response Soft, delayed pedal mapping tuned for comfort Sharp and immediate — the car moves when your foot does Downshifts arrive with the throttle instead of a second later
Gear shifts Lazy, comfort-biased shifts that slur under power Torque management trimmed so shifts stop sapping power TransformedFaster, firmer shifts, smarter shift points, higher line pressure that protects the clutches
Acceleration Held back by throttle, boost and torque ceilings Noticeably quicker everywhere — midrange pull you feel daily Launch behavior + shift speed compound the engine gains at the strip
Limiters Speed limiter, rev hang and conservative redline Raised or removed where you choose — your car, your ceiling Top-gear and per-gear speed logic matched to the new limits
Your modifications Intake, downpipe or exhaust the ECU never learned about Properly calibrated — hardware finally earns its power safely Shift strategy re-matched to the new torque curve
Daily manners One compromise for everyone Your compromise — calm below 3,000 rpm, alive above it, pops on demand Comfort schedule kept for traffic; sport schedule sharpened for the good roads
Fuel use (cruise) Calibrated for the worst fuel sold anywhere Often improves at part-throttle — optimized spark needs less pedal for the same speed Earlier lock-up and smarter cruising gears trim consumption

Exact gains depend on platform, fuel and hardware — check your car above to see what its ECU and gearbox support, with expected stage gains. Every tune starts with a stock backup, and every change respects knock, AFR and torque safety margins.

Why tune at all

You already paid for it.

The power is in the hardware you bought — the factory file just refuses to use it. A calibration is the cheapest horsepower-per-dollar your car will ever see, and the only mod that improves every drive, not just full throttle.

Why the engine · ECU

It's where the character lives.

Response, midrange, sound, limiters, how it behaves on your fuel in your climate — all of it is numbers in the ECU. Change the numbers, change the car. Safely, with the stock file backed up first.

Why the gearbox · TCM/TCU

Power is nothing unshifted.

An automatic that slurs half-second comfort shifts wastes everything the engine tune found. Firmer, faster, smarter-timed shifts put the new torque on the road — and higher line pressure under load protects the clutches while doing it.

How it works

From a sentence to a flashed tune.

You stay in control of your own hardware and credits. The Tune Assistant does the expert work in between.

01

Install & connect

Install the EcuTunerx app on your Windows PC and open the Prompt VCM Editor tab. It links straight into your HP Tuners VCM Editor — no cloud, no uploads.

02

Type what you want

Type it in plain English: "Stage 2 for my GLA45 on 93 octane — keep it safe." That's the whole interface.

03

Watch it tune

The Tune Assistant takes control of VCM Editor and makes every calibration edit itself, live — explaining each change as it goes.

04

Review & flash

It backs up your stock file, shows every change, and you flash it to your car with your own MPVI2/MPVI3.

Product 01 · Tune Assistant

Type. It drives the editor.

A live look at the Tune Assistant's natural-language console. You type in plain English; it reasons, then reaches into VCM Editor and lights up exactly the cells it changes.

Stage 2 for my GLA45 on 93 octane — keep it safe and streetable.

Product 02 · LiveData Assistant

The LiveData Assistant watches VCM Scanner while you log and narrates what your car is doing — in plain human language — then tells you exactly what to improve.

Third-gear pull, logging now. How's it running?
LiveData Assistant
Watching the log. Boost is building cleanly to 22.1 psi, timing is steady and coolant is happy — so far this is a healthy pull.
LiveData Assistant · reading
One thing: your AFR leans out to 12.9 at peak load — I'd want 11.8–12.0 there. That's why it feels flat up top, and it runs hotter than it should.
LiveData Assistant · recommends
Recommendation: richen high-load fueling about 6% above 5,500 rpm and it'll pull harder and cooler. With the Tune Assistant, that fix is one sentence away. ✅

FAQ

Straight answers.

Which product do I need?
If you want the AI to write and revise your tune inside VCM Editor, get the Tune Assistant ($300/month). If you want it to read your VCM Scanner live data and explain how your car is running — with recommendations — get the LiveData Assistant ($200/month). The Master Package includes both for $400/month — $100 less every month than subscribing to both separately. All three personal plans are licensed to one vehicle (your VIN). Tuning other people's cars? The Dealers / Resellers plan ($2,000/month) unlocks both assistants for unlimited vehicles on one licensed computer.
How many cars can I tune?
Personal plans — LiveData, Tune, and Master — are licensed to one vehicle, matched to your VIN. You can read and tune that car as many times as you like, but not other cars. Need more? The Dealers / Resellers plan removes the VIN limit for unlimited vehicles, licensed instead to a single computer.
Is it one app or two?
One app. The EcuTunerx desktop app has a tab for each assistant — Prompt VCM Editor (Tune Assistant) and VCM Scanner (LiveData Assistant). Your plan decides which tabs unlock; the Master Package unlocks both.
Do I need tuning experience?
No. Describe what you want and the AI does the expert work — and explains it back so you learn. 1:1 onboarding is included with every purchase.
What do I need to run it?
A Windows PC, licensed HP Tuners software (VCM Editor for the Tune Assistant, VCM Scanner for the LiveData Assistant), your MPVI2/MPVI3 interface, and your own vehicle credits. You still flash with your own device.
What does my subscription include?
Everything, always current: the assistant tabs on your plan, unlimited tunes and revisions for your licensed vehicle, all updates, new vehicle support, new features, ongoing AI improvements, and 1:1 onboarding. Cancel anytime — access ends when your subscription does, but your tune files always remain yours.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes — start with one assistant and upgrade, downgrade, or add the other any time; changes apply from your next billing month. If you already know you want the pair, the Master Package is the better deal at $100 less per month.
Can I tune customers' cars or resell tuning?
Yes — with the Dealers / Resellers plan ($2,000/month). It includes both assistants, has no VIN restriction (unlimited vehicles), and is licensed to one shop computer. The personal plans are for tuning your own single car and aren't licensed for resale.
Which cars are supported?
Coverage is broad and growing — use the checker above to look up your car. New platforms are added continuously through the yearly updates, so your supported-car list keeps expanding.
Is my data private?
Yes. Everything runs locally on your PC. Your tunes and logs never leave your machine — no uploads, no cloud.
Are you affiliated with HP Tuners?
No. EcuTunerx is independent and works alongside your licensed HP Tuners software. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by HP Tuners, LLC.
What about legal & warranty?
ECU and TCM/TCU tuning carries mechanical risk and may void your manufacturer's warranty. Some calibrations are supplied for motorsport/off-road use, and you're responsible for local emissions compliance. Your stock file is always backed up first.
